Public beaches: keep the day simple
Look at the Plages du Midi west of the Old Port and the public beach sections along La Croisette. Bring your own towel and choose the section that works best for your walk from the apartment. Public and private areas sit alongside each other, so check the signs before settling down.
A good plan: pick up picnic ingredients, go for a morning swim and return for lunch or a break indoors. Allow a couple of hours for a quick visit or half a day for a more leisurely outing.

Private beaches: book the experience you want
A private beach can suit an occasion or a day when you want loungers and service. Compare the actual package before reserving: the lounger position, umbrella, towel, arrival requirements and cancellation terms may differ between operators.
Plan ahead: ask whether lunch is included, optional or a separate restaurant reservation. Prices and availability vary by date and location, so use the beach’s current booking information rather than an old price list.
Our planning suggestion: reserve the part of the day you most care about, then keep the rest free. A long lunch and a short swim can be just as enjoyable as an all-day booking.
Choosing a beach with children
Prioritise a manageable walk, access to toilets, somewhere to find shade and an easy route back for a rest. Check facilities at the particular section you choose; do not assume every stretch has showers, lifeguards or step-free access.
Bring water and sun protection, supervise children closely and follow the displayed flags and local instructions. Avoid treating an island cove as an interchangeable alternative to a mainland sandy beach: surfaces, access and facilities differ.
